We currently manage more than 5,000 residential units and including commercial property our total portfolio size is over 6 million square feet. We employ more than 150 people who operate and maintain the properties.
Over the years, we have developed an excellent reputation within the industry and with various local government agencies involved with residential and commercial properties. Among these include: the San Francisco Residential Rent Stabilization and Arbitration Board, the San Francisco Housing Authority, Bureau of Building Inspection along with the code enforcement departments in Marin and Sonoma counties.
Meridian is active in numerous organizations involved in the preservation and improvement of the quality of living in the City of San Francisco including the Coalition for Better Housing and the San Francisco Apartment Association (SFAA). We also have professional affiliations with the California Apartment Association (CAA), Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), Building Owners and Managers Association International (BOMI), the Professional Property Managers Association (PPMA) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI).

Randall Chapman – President
Randy has more than thirty-five years of property management, ownership and development experience in the real estate field. He started his career 1976 in Vail, Colorado as Controller for Access Vail, later co-founding IDSI, one of the first software firms to develop programs to administer billings to timeshare projects.
In 1984 he co-founded MMG through the merger of two San Francisco real estate investment firms; starting as CFO and then moving to President and CEO in 2004.
Randy received a B.S. Degree in Finance from Colorado State University. He is active nationally as a full member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and locally through the Professional Property Manager’s Association (PPMA), San Francisco Apartment Association (SFAA) and the Coalition for Better Housing (CBH). MMG selected as Large Property Management Firm of the year by SFAA in 2009.
Gil Dowd – Vice President
Gil’s family has been in the real estate and property management business since the early 1900’s, starting with a firm founded by his Great Grandfather. Two of the senior Dowd’s sons took over in the 1930’s and the firm became known as Dowd Bros.
Gil is a native San Franciscan and graduate of the University of San Francisco. After graduating in 1985 he obtained a Real Estate Brokers License and joined the family business in 1989 after working in real estate sales.
In 2004, Gil merged Dowd Bros. with Meridian Management Group and became Vice President of Meridian. He remains active with numerous trade organizations such as the San Francisco Apartment Association (SFAA), Professional Property Manager’s Association (PPMA) and the Coalition for Better Housing (CBH).
